Financial momentum continues for Alex Wan’s Council President campaign
Two-term City Councilmember Alex Wan draws support from a broad cross-section of Atlantans in his bid for City’s second-highest office
Atlanta, October 10, 2017 – Atlanta City Councilmember Alex Wan, who is seeking the second-highest elected position in Atlanta government – Atlanta City Council President, raised $62,689.00 in the campaign finance disclosure period ending September 30.
This brings Wan’s cumulative fundraising total to nearly $300,000.00 since he officially announced his run for the office Jan. 4. This latest financial disclosure notes that the campaign has over $170,000.00 on hand.
“In the three months since our last disclosure we received donations from so many individuals, continuing to demonstrate a broad base of support from across Atlanta,” Wan says. “Our City is made up of a diverse array of stakeholders, and I am heartened and humbled to have support from every corner of Atlanta. This underscores a central tenet of my campaign: That by working together we can address Atlanta’s challenges and realize the shared vision for the City we love.”
Wan’s funds raised for the period and cash on hand both continue to outpace that of his two opponents. Since the beginning of his campaign for City Council President, Wan has enjoyed support from Atlanta residents who appreciate his experience and focus on specific key issues, as well as from business and community leaders. “I am particularly proud that contributors have come from throughout the city,” noted Wan.
The Buckhead Coalition has endorsed Alex Wan, who is seeking the Atlanta City Council President seat after two successful terms on Council
Atlanta, October 6, 2017 – Atlanta City Councilmember Alex Wan, who is running for Atlanta City Council President, has again earned the endorsement of the Buckhead Coalition.
The Buckhead Coalition is North Atlanta’s prestigious chamber-type organization. It is comprised of 100 business leaders, and its leader, Sam Massell, is a former Atlanta mayor and has long been referred to as “the Mayor of Buckhead.”
“I am proud of the support of the Buckhead Coalition,” Wan says. “The Coalition embraces crucial issues that affect all of us in the Metro area, like economic opportunity, transportation and infrastructure, building safe and affordable communities, and the fiscal insight and track record to pursue the needs of a world-class City while also being a good steward of tax dollars.”
The Coalition’s Massell issued a strong plea for attention to these races, stating “the Legislative Arenas of government are integral partners with our Executive Branches which is why we separate our endorsements. Having served as President of Atlanta’s City Council (then called the Board of Aldermen) for eight years, I can recite many instances where the Council made the decisions that aided in smooth management of the City. Thus, it behooves us all to become informed and get involved in all such contests.”
